The Class

Fridays Open class at the Ki Centre

Welcome to our weekly open-level Contact Improvisation Class!

Facilitation

Hosted and facilitated by Justin and regular guest teachers, this class offers a space for deepening our embodied understanding of CI from a variety of perspectives, in a collaborative and relaxed environment surrounded by a growing community of dancers.

Beginners welcome!

If you're new to Contact Improvisation, you are so welcome to join us. Our classes are open to all levels of experience. Learn more about Contact Improvisation.

To help maintain a safe and supportive environment for everyone, we require all participants to read and agree to abide by our community guidelines.

The Jam

Fridays Open level Jam at the Ki Centre

Our Friday Jam is a space to dance with the community and also to integrate the offerings of the class.

Jam attendance for beginners

If you are totally new to CI, we do ask that you attend at least one class before joining a CI Jam. Additionally, at the start of each jam, there will be an informal session with Justin at the side of the jam to help introduce any beginners to the space.

Facilitators

Justin

Justin has been dancing CI consistently since 2014, drawing on a background in Kung Fu, Judo, Thai massage and more recently Contemporary Dance. He first taught CI in 2018 in a regular collaboration with Marie Chabert in Chisenhale Dance Space in London. More about Justin

Guest facilitators

We regularly welcome guest facilitators to bring fresh perspectives to our practice. If you'd like to offer a class please get in touch! For facilitators from London and further afield, I may be able to offer hosting for the night leaving you free to enjoy the delights of Brighton for the weekend!

The Ki centre is located right at the centre of Brighton, 1 min. walk from the clock tower and around 10 minutes walk from Brighton train station. Easily accessed by bus, train and taxi, with nearby paid parking at Churchill Square.
